José Vicente Climent is crowned Spanish runner-up in the waters off Barcelona.
Quim Esteba, from the Club Nàutic Tamariu, became the sixth three-time Spanish champion in the history of the senior sailing dinghy class this Sunday, winning the 2019 edition, organized by the Club Pati Vela Barcelona.
He was followed by Andalusian José Vicente Climent, from the RCN de El Puerto de Santa María, who earned two of the three points that sealed a national competition marked by the weather. The Andalusian won the first race, in which low winds left more than half the fleet out of the time limit, and in another of the two held on the second day, ultimately the best with average wind speeds of 12 knots.
In the closing stages, winds of 30 knots with occasional gusts of up to 38 knots forced the race committee to cancel the two scheduled races and close the classification for the nearly 90 boats that competed in Catalan waters.
