Our history

Vicente and Álvaro Climent, two brothers from Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz), discovered their passion for sailing by accident in their teens.

Despite family opposition and a lack of financial resources, they learned to sail and repair wooden boats in poor condition at a local club (OJE). They excelled in regattas and, given the lack of sail experts in the area, began to ingeniously repair them themselves.

Self-taught and
entrepreneurs

At just 14 or 15 years old, Vicente secretly repaired his first sail using his mother’s sewing machine. They soon gained a reputation: their repairs were more durable than new sails.

They set up a workshop in a garage, bought machinery, and expanded their services to awnings. They combined higher education (naval engineering and draftsmanship) with their business.

The professional leap

In the 1980s and 1990s, they moved to Puerto Sherry (Bay of Cádiz), built a small warehouse, and focused on quality and innovative materials (such as Kevlar).

Their focus on wind resistance and customized designs gave them an advantage. In 1999, already established, they expanded to a two-story warehouse.

Keys to its success:

Self-sufficiency, Innovation and Adaptability

Legacy:

Velas Climent was born from curiosity, tenacity, and the ability to transform obstacles into opportunities. Today, it is a benchmark in the nautical sector.

Quality and family
at the service of the customer

More than 40 years ago, the Climent brothers founded a workshop dedicated to the design and manufacture of sails. We manufacture school sails, dinghy sails, cruising sails, and cruising and racing sails, and we continue to expand our projects to offer a wide variety of products and customized solutions to our customers.

We manufacture our sails using our computer-aided design software, and they are cut with our cutting plotter. The materials used for manufacturing range from Dacron-polyester, Pentex laminates, Kevlar, Spectra-Dyne, carbon, and more.

More than
sail production

Over time, we’ve expanded our scope and services, designing and manufacturing all types of textiles for boats (awnings, boom covers, upholstery, enclosures, etc.), as well as for the residential and business markets.

Our fundamental objective is complete customer satisfaction, which is why all our work is customized and tailored to your needs and tastes.
